What is it
Raalhu Gudi
Raalhu gudi has been introduced in Maldives for the first time in Maldives in 2016, when Youri Zoon was invited by the Maafushi Dive Center and held his first kite camp in Maafushi with 30 participants who learn about kiteboarding, the wind and for the beginners to learn a bailey or landing double handle passes.
This experience made it possible for the 2017 to experience kite surfing to 75 participant’s and the event ended by kite boarding from Vilimale’ to Maafushi.
This year, on 27th June 2018 we have opened opportunities for 60 participants who will be beginners and will be introduced to kite boarding.

KITEBOARDING
KITEBAORDING is an adventure watersport that consists of using a large steerable kite to pull yourself around on a board on top of the water. One of the main power needed is the wind to ride, and it has become an obsession inspiring travel to far areas. Some of the destinations famous for kite boarding is Canary Islands (Spain), Maui (Hawaii), Lake Garda (Italy), Babaomby (Madagascar), Essaouira (Morocco), Long Bay, Turks and Caicos, Cape Hatteras (North Carolina), Columbia River Gorge, Oregon and Washington (U.S) and La Ventana, Baja (Mexioco). Why don’t we make Maldives a kite boarding destination not only for tourists but also for surfers who can bring big tournaments to here.
Kiteboarding has been a sport which has been gaining popularity within the youths and one of the most exciting news is that this year, in Youth Olympic Games in Bueno’s Aries, Argentina kite boarding has been introduced for the first time ever.

Youri Zoon
Youri Zoon grew up by the sea in the Southwest of the Netherlands and has been an extreme sports addict from a young age. BMX, Windsurfing, Motocross, you name it. With each of these activities, Youri always pushed himself to the limit. At age 13, Youri decided to focus exclusively on kiteboarding and joined the VKWC (formerly known as PKRA).
Being one of the most powerful riders in the circuit can bring with it misfortunes. In 2007 and 2008 he was seriously injured ripping his ACL both times, and had to stop kiting during those seasons. He came back to the championships in 2009 more motivated than ever. By becoming PKRA Vice World Champion, he quenched any doubt regarding his performance level. With determination and focus, Youri grabbed the World Title in both 2011 and 2012

3RD RAALHU GUDI CAMP EVENT
1st camp on 27th June 2018 (Wednesday)
Who: 60 participants with professional kite boarding surfers.
What: This is an opportunity for beginners as well as for the Maldivian professional kite boarding
surfers to one platform from across the Maldives to enjoy and to show the talent of kite
boarding youths in Maldives.
Where: Hulhumale’, 2nd Phase beach area.
When: Scheduled for 27th June 2018. Beach activity begins at 9am to 6pm.
